Broumov Walls

The ridge of the Broumovské stěny (Broumov Walls) with extensive views from the rocky viewpoints is accessible from a few tourist trails.

Broumovské stěny are located in the north-eastern part of the Czech Republic, at the Broumov Highlands, between Police nad Metuji and Broumov. The 12 km-long wooded ridge spreads from the Honský špák (652 m above sea level) to the border saddle under the Hejšovina. A characteristic, asymmetrical rock ridge (a cuesta) is at some points only a few metres wide. Broumovské stěny are very popular due to their rock formations, ravines, views, and most of all, the quiet. In 1956, this sandstone relief of 638 ha surface area was recognised as the National Nature Reserve. The area is very large and consists of beautiful sandstones, deep ravines, passageways, beautiful viewpoints and rich forests. The so-called Slavenské hřiby are a very special spot, and you can see them in a forest over the place called Slavný. They gained their form of mushroom rocks thanks to uneven rock erosion. Another frequent tourist destination is a baroque chapel and wooden hut called Hvězda. Near a village called Slavný there are also the so-called mushroom rocks.
