The war of 1866 is one of the most important conflicts of the 19th century which, eventually, paved the way to the unification of Germany.
The decisive battle during this war took place on 3 July 1866 north-west of the city stronghold in Hradec Králové and was the biggest battle on the territory of the Czech Republic in the history. Each year, the Garda města Hradce Králové, z.s. association organizes anniversary events both at the location of the former battlefield and in Hradec Králové. The event’s highlight is the battle scene based on real historical events.
