A fascinating expedition down the five meanders of the Eastern Neisse [Pol. Nysa Kłodzka], one of the most beautiful sections of the very river in our region.
The Bardzki Gorge [Pol. Przełom Bardzki] is an extremely charming section of the Eastern Neisse. This part of the river begins at the mouth of Ścinawa, at which there is a picturesque rock cliff, and ends in a specially designated launching place, which offers a magnificent view of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Bardo the Guardian of Faith and a Cistercian monastery and museum complex. The gorge comprises five great Neisse meanders, which cut into the Bardzkie Mountains, forming a winding valley. The beauty of the postglacial landform of the Bardo region may be seen in all its glory from the peak of the Bardzka Mountain (593 m a.s.l.); however, in order to really appreciate this tremendous area, it has to be seen and discovered from a different perspective – from the water level. Eastern Neisse rafting and kayaking trips are a perfect opportunity to admire not only the river itself, meandering among the high rocks since centuries covered with dense forest, but also the inhabitants of the very area – herons, roe deer, grebes, wild boars, and even, with a little bit of luck, mouflons that happen to appear at the riverbank. It takes 2.5–3 hours to complete the whole route.
