Fifth Study Tour

The visit was organized by the following Project Partners: the Association of Municipalities of the Upper Oder River Basin, the Beskidy Region Association, and the “Olza” Association of Development and Regional Cooperation.

It was devoted to the region located within the supported area, i.e. the Silesian Province. On the first day of the tour, the Project Partner, the “Olza” Association of Development and Regional Cooperation, showed the Partners around the following locations: Skoczów (the Old Town, the Kaplicówka Hill), the Residence of the President of the Republic of Poland in Wisła, the Koniaków Lace Centre in Koniaków, and the “Na Grapie” Regional Museum in Jaworzynka.

On the second day, the Beskidy Region Association took the Project Partners on a ride to Skrzyczne, after which we had an opportunity to visit the city of Bielsko-Biała and the Pszczyna Castle. On the same day, the Association of Municipalities of the Upper Oder River Basin showed us around the Piast Castle in Racibórz, and afterwards, quite obviously, we could not have missed out on the Castle Brewery. Then, we went for a walk around Racibórz. The guide led the Partners, among others, along the Oder boulevards and the Oder River, to the parks and, finally, to see the most interesting Monuments of Racibórz, telling stories about the history of the very town.

On the third day, we took the Partners round the Moravian Gate Arboretum and the beautiful “Enchanted Garden” located nearby, which could be admired from a viewing platform. The last attraction planned were the Border Meanders of the Oder River, a Natura2000 area. Our Partners had an opportunity to admire the charming view from the level of the river – while kayaking – and from an observation tower. The visit concluded at the restored Palace in Chałupki.

The main objective of the study visit was to familiarize the Project Partners with the history of the Silesian Province, at the same time demonstrating its tourist potential.
