Darkov Spa is one of the leading spa resorts in the Czech Republic and, at the same time, one of the oldest iodine sanatorium in Europe. The spa is world-famous for the use of natural medicinal water, iodine–bromine brine.
The spa complex is located in Karviná, in the north-eastern part of the Czech Republic. The mineral-rich water, “iodine-bromine brine”, called the “Darkov Gold” is the medicinal wealth offered by the spa. The brine contains a lot of valuable mineral substances and, most of all, iodine in concentration higher than in the coastal locations.
The spa includes 2 treatment centres: Historic Darkov Spa and Rehabilitation Sanatorium.
Darkov Spa specialises in treating the movement apparatus, nervous system and the cardiovascular system, as well as skin conditions and urogenital system. Apart from conditions after injury, post-surgery conditions and after strokes, burns are successfully treated here, as well. In the Historical Spa, patients can choose between curative stay and rehabilitation stay and accommodation in modern-furnished villas. Catering is offered in the Meeting Centre which is located at the heart of the spa complex. During the stay, patients have a choice of medical treatments, spa treatments and brine baths.
The Rehabilitation Sanatorium is another treatment centre with over 40 years of tradition, located 5 km away from the original Historical Darkov Spa Centre. From the very beginning, the concept of the sanatorium has been based on modern field of physiatry, balneology, and therapeutic rehabilitation. In the free time, the spa guests may relax in swimming pools, saunas, and hydromassage pools in the World of Vitality, take up light sport activities or spend their time walking or on picnics in the spa park.
