Contemporary Art Gallery in Hradec Králové belong to the most important galleries in the Czech Republic in terms of the scope and quality of its collections.
The gallery creates, professionally manages and makes available the collections of Czech works of art from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, to the works of art of modern artists. The permanent exhibition composed of the gallery’s collections and regularly changing author’s exhibitions, collective and themed exhibitions, provide the visitors with insights on the most important values of the Czech modern and contemporary art. The gallery prepares also programs accompanying the exhibitions, lectures and other cultural and educational meetings. In 2015, the building of the gallery underwent a thorough reconstruction which, among others, enabled a substantial expansion of the exhibition halls. The gallery was reopened on 24 November 2016.
