The greatest attraction of the Podkrkonoší is undoubtedly the Royal Forest Dam (Přehrada Les Království), a reservoir on the Elbe River which was built at the beginning of the 20th century.
The Royal Forest Dam is a reservoir on the Elbe River. It is located near Těšnov hideaway in Bílá Třemešná, 4 km up the river from Dvůr Králové nad Labem. The building was erected in a romantic, pseudo-gothic style. The reservoir construction started in 1910, in response to the flood that occurred in July 1897. Since 1964, the reservoir has been under protection as a technical monument, and since 1 July 2010, it has been recognised as a national cultural monument.
