It’s the largest pumped-storage power station in the world and the vastest hydropower facility in the Czech Republic.
Most of the facilities are located underground, buildings on the surface are skilfully integrated into the surrounding nature and together form a harmonious whole. This special building is also open to public. At the beginning of the tour, in the information centre, there is an interesting and attractive film about the construction process of the facility and about the importance of the Dlouhé Stráně power station for the power industry in the Czech Republic. The sightseeing of a part of the power station, which you enter through a long tunnel, is an unforgettable experience. The construction of the facility started already in 1978, it was put into operation 18 years later. In 2005, the pumped-storage power station Dlouhé Stráně became one of 7 greatest wonders of the Czech Republic.
