The Těšín Beskydy border region is a place with rich history. A significant historic element combining the Czech-Polish-Slovak Tripoint region is the Šance fortification system.
Fryštát Palace in Karvina is an exceptional palace monument in this region. It was the only residence of the Piasts in the Czech Republic, and later, the residence of the Counts Larisch-Mönnich. This is the only one of three huge palaces existing in the city still in the 20th century that has been preserved.
Darkov Spa is one of the leading spa resorts in the Czech Republic and, at the same time, one of the oldest iodine sanatorium in Europe. The spa is world-famous for the use of natural medicinal water, iodine–bromine brine.
“Heklowanie”, i.e. a unique method of lace-making used only by the residents of Koniaków in the Silesian Beskids, has been entered on the national list of intangible cultural heritage. The tradition dates back to the early 20th century.
